as I was browsing through some blogs and reading on some of your beautiful things I realized that lots of you are young moms and many with babies! many showing the beautiful items sewn for their babies and it came to me something that might be helpful to some!
As my babies woke up for feeding at night I had to go through the motions of changing sheets and blankets because they were wet... and all you want to do is get done with it and go back to bed, especially because the next day you need to get up to deal with life, worst of all if there is a paid job waiting for us! as it was for me...
So I wondered what could I do help me in this task? and my solution was a simple and very effective one for me.... I sewed a few mattress covers made of a waterproof bottom, batting and terry cloth for the top. I don't have one made now, but it is very simple... a rectangle made to fit the width and length of the part of the crib where babies lay! i used a batting with a lot of loft and the thickest terry I could find...it can be a bought towel even... and a thick waterproof fabric...work it as you would for a quilt but leaving it with as much thickness as possible!
and voilá!! if the diaper leaked the padding would be the only thing wet, so i would take it out and replace it for another one.. so after baby was changed and fed I could go to bed without any fuss!
These pads were easily washed and dried.. back then I didn't have a dryer and had to use the old fashioned line... so useful though!! and even in cold weather they would dry fast because the loft would air quickly!!
I don't know if this idea is useful to you ... you might even have a better solution... but this was very simple, inexpensive and quickly sewed... even for those who don't sew much!! I hope it is of good use to some!!

a lovely sight!!
today I found this lovely site! The Beehive cottage! look it up at the link I'm putting up...it is worth it!
decorationg a classroom!
In my church we work very closely with the young women's personal and spiritual improvement, one thing doesn't go without the other! We have a program called Personal Progress. The girls and their mother's are encouraged to set goals and work together in the things they choose to do! It can be related to all areas of personal knowledge and improvement, inlcuding their spiritual and emotional preparedness. The girls meet once a week to work together and of course on Sunday they have their most spiritual time together. The leaders decided to decorate the girl's room in a way that would make them feel welcome and in an environment that the girls enjoy!! So we decided to do patchwork and quilting items that would reflect their personality!
Here you can see the felt heart wall hanging - it meant all the girls part of the group
The gifts they received for keeping their goal - a fabric folder
to keep their journals, books and scriptures!
The table cloth - quilted top! and chair covers also quilted and
a bulletin board to keep their programs in check! It all turned out
really well and they really enjoyed their gifts! I did most of the sewing and the ideas, my friends helped me with the cutting and pinning and turning!! We made 20 folders and chair covers in all!
It was a lot of sewing and lot of time consuming, but it was a wonderful time and experience!
Here in you can see all the leaders and girls who were awarded in that first day!
Final setup!
wow!! it took awhile, but I think I finally got the look closer to what I want!! I have seen some blogs I think are just beautiful with lots of white and ecru and beige and the vintage look I love so much... but I haven't found that look for a background...and then again my Hungarian nature flourishes and I fill it with vibrant colors!! what can say... would love to hear from what you think... is it pleasing to the eyes?
Well now I hope I can concentrate on the things I have been working on and preparing to post them!!
I have seen some constant friends coming along to visit!! thank you!! would like, or rather, love to hear what you would like to see!!
bijous!!

header
you can see the new view of my home... this is winter here in SP ... on a beautiful blue sky day and warm sun!
I was responsible for the design of the landscape and overall construction, the engineer only put in on the paper!... I love my garden and my flowers...they will be posted next ... tons of them!
But I'm really upset... I had to transplant a tree ... a typical pine tree from Brasil...auracária.... because the neighbor didn't want it next to this dividing wall... can you believe it!... a gorgeous tree!! and we live in an environmental protected area where the trees cannot be cut!.... well ... I think my trees won't make it!! they look so dry!!

fair
I managed to go to the mega fair yesterday, and when I say managed I really mean managed.... it was an ordeal to get there !! but it was worth it... only feel that I didn't have time to see it all... it was closing time and I was half way visiting all the stands!!
It was a fair showing suppliers, crafters of all kinds and classes!
I took pics from the windows... some are not so good as I had glare from the glass window, but it is still possible to see the work!
There is felt work, wood painting, some scrapart, and many more!!
Some very beautiful things!

finally!!!
finally feeling better from a nasty cold!! winter time and dry weather are not a good combination !! can't remember when was the last time I had a bad cold... about 6 years ago!!! maybe! but this one couldn't be helped... if DH gets one it's a bit hard not to catch it too!
But, I could do do some knitting ... it has been awhile since I did anything... made a cap and am working on a matching sweater...let's see how it goes...will post pics... just finished the cap a little awhile ago!!
I certainly appreciate all the girls I've been following on their blogs...some wonderful things and even had a couple of nice messages from KicsiKató and Mammka ... thank you... some I can't translate with the google tool... but even when I can't understand it all I can still see the beautiful work and pictures!
The world of blogging certainly has opened a beautiful window to the world and to meet some very neat people... that means fantastic people!! how much fun it is!!
Good week to all of you!
